…I know there’s more. Much more.

—> We have so many shoes in our lifetime. I think it’s important. I always say that I want a pair of shoes to match each outfit. I love shoes. I want more. Materialistic? Not really. I think your shoes define you and your way through life more than you know.

Those pair of Rockports reminded me of a time in my life I just wanted to be sensible. No more painful cute flats or shoes, just sensible shoes I can walk in for hours. I saw myself getting older. How? When Paul and Eric told me they were ugly.

Those single pair of Adidas’s. Those were in middle school. I really wanted those pair of Adidas’s everyone had. I couldn’t afford them so I settled for the cheaper versions that looked similar. I was a trend whore in middle school. It reminded me of how young I was back then. How I didn’t really have the balls to think for myself. What was cool was what everyone was wearing. Now that I look back, the one’s everyone had were ugly. They remind me of kids sporting “Viet Pryde” written on their binders, slicked back or sectioned hair, rubberband-ing up the hems of your jeans, and obsessing over import cars. That was me in middle school. Those shoes won’t let me forget and will always remind me of who I was and how much I’ve changed.

Our taste changes through time. You become friends with those you once detested. Fall out of being friends with those you once adored. You could care less to give a second or single thought of that boy you’ve seen for years. Then, 7 years later, you might be thinking about him everyday. Care about things that are trivial and then go on to caring about bigger and life impacting issues. Hated broccoli. Love broccoli. Hate it still.

We’re continually changing our perspective, our taste, and ourselves as whole. Don’t be embarrassed of those shoes you wore years ago, months ago, or last season. Those shoes will remind you of who you were and how far you’ve gone to become the amazing person you are today.

Love,

P.S. I love my roommate. Best roomate :) I’ve been studying this whole weekend and she’s been spoiling me with goodies. She bought me yan yan and almond cookies to snack on. Then, after dinner she cup up mango for me. Just now, she brought cut strawberries for me with a spoon. :) In love :)
